Take to the World

Stowe

Stowe’s Group

Purpose: Christ call’s believers to share the Gospel with those who do not know Him. We are also called to be salt and light to the world in the hopes of reaching people for the Gospel. Some people do this through relationships while others use apologetics or “information” to do this. The problem is that we need to have a balance. The Gospel is shared through relationships, but it helps to know where people are coming from so you can best present the Gospel. This class will help you learn what people believe so that you may better point them to Christ through your relationship with them.

Meeting Date: Every other Sunday beginning September 2nd

Meeting Time: 4:00-5:40

Meeting Place: The Cup

Length: 50 minutes of interactive “lecture”, 10 minute break, 40 minutes of Q&A, discussion, and “role play”

Topics: The group will choose the topic. For example, we will take a written vote and the 3 topics that get the most votes will be tallied. We will then choose between the three which subject we will cover.

Possible Topics:

  • New Age
  • Mormonism
  • Islam
  • Homosexuality
  • Buddhism
  • Jehovah’s Witness
  • Hinduism
  • Existentialism, Post-modernity
  • Old/New Testament Textual Issues
  • God in the Old Testament: In other words, “Why does God do some of the things He does?”
  • Bio-ethics (stem cells, abortion, death, etc.)

Who can come? This group is directed toward believers with the expectation that they will reach out to non-believers, learn about their culture/views/religion, and find a way to point them to Christ. Honestly, this is not a time for your skeptical friends in that we will not be “debating” views. Please note that I absolutely love these conversations, but this is an equipping and discussion time for believers. The time to bring your non-believing friends is to the Community Dinners every month. It is not about how “smart” you are, all that matters is that you want to love on people with Christ. If you have questions, just talk to me and we’ll figure it out as we go.
