Why Summer Missions?
Why should I take time off work, potentially delay my graduation, and leave my friends and family so that I can go to another country, eat food that I can’t even identify, and try to love people I may not even be able to communicate clearly with. Additionally, some of you may be wondering why you should go to another city or another country when you could be sharing the gospel with people here in Denton who need it just as much.
The ultimate reason why we participate in missions is that God, as the infinite creator of everything, is worthy to be worshipped. As Psalm 113:3-4 says “From the rising of the sun to its setting The name of the LORD is to be praised. The LORD is high above all nations; His glory is above the heavens.”
The second reason as to why we do missions is that there are literally thousands of people everyday who die without the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. There are many places in our world today where millions of people may never even meet a believer who can share the saving gospel of Christ with them.
While we believe that God is sovereign over the salvation of all people, we also believe that Scripture is clear that salvation comes through the preaching of the word and that preaching is done through the sending out of believers (Romans 10:13-15).
As Christians, we are given the command to (Matthew 28:19-20), and the privilege of, being a part of God’s eternal plan for the salvation of people from “every tribe and tongue and people and nation” (Revelation 5:9).
This is why CollegeLife is involved in missions. We believe that God is worthy and that the Gospel is “the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16).

China
Summer I: June 7 – July 9
Spots remaining: 10
Estimated Cost: $2500 (approx.)
Our primary project in Shanghai is a resource center for hard working rural-urban homeless migrants who make their living collecting discarded recycleables.
At the center we offer a place for the homeless to take a shower, wash or replace their clothes, share a meal or just relax a while.
Cultural Exchange is another important aspect of our work. The team in China has hosted more than 100 students since 2001 from the United States guiding them in an introduction of the Chinese language, cultural and spiritual exploration and most importantly, establishing new friendships.
In all their work in China, they seek to work openly and legally complementing the work of established local groups and churches.

TWO MONTHS, Summer I and II
June, July, some of August
Spots remaining: 5
Estimated Cost: $3200 (approx.)
It is rare that we plan a trip for this long. It will be a great opportunity to serve alongside former missions pastor, James Arnold. James’ vision for hosting this team is that they would become short-term members of their long-term team. Committing to go for the two months is not for the faint of heart but the rewards will be in equal proportion. You will serve in two international churches, share the gospel with French people and Muslim immigrants as you sip coffee in a café and play bocce ball with Muslim men in the town square of the city.
Languages Spoken: French
Host Missionary: James and Jen Arnold, Daniel and Marie Orozco

Come and assist a Slovakian college ministry in training and development students in the context of the SpeakOut English camp. You will be sowing the seeds of the Gospel in the lives of High school students while building relationships with them through teaching English. You will also be working alongside and helping to strengthen Slovakian college students who will be there to learn how to share their faith and disciple others. By teaming up with local believers you can help in developing a movement that would harvest the fruit of the SpeakOut camps throughout the rest of the year.
